Science Education Enhances Knowledge (SEEK) About Tobacco

Students participate in missions and problem solve to learn the science behind nicotine addiction, the contributions by various kinds of tobacco products to the development of cancer, and the role of marketing in tobacco product use. A virtual lab activity challenges students to determine whether compounds in tobacco can cause DNA mutations in a strain of bacteria (Serratia marcescens).
