If you are interested in an event that uses video, here are links to resources from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

Teens vs. Adults ChallengeIdea 1: With all of the information in the movies on drug abuse and its negative side effects, watching movies together and discussing them as a group can help all of us learn to stay away from drugs. Check out the videos below, or feel free to check out HBO’s addiction films, and stick around afterwards to discuss what you saw. Ask a scientific expert and/or an ER doctor to answer questions and share their experiences; you can also hand out the Drugs: SHATTER THE MYTHS booklet.

Idea 2: If you’re a musician, and between the ages of 14-18, participate in the GRAMMY Foundation® and MusiCares® Teens! Make Music Contest. This is a great opportunity for aspiring teen musicians to use the healing and uplifting medium of music to help spread the message about the importance of healthy choices and the dangers of drug abuse. The contest asks young musicians to create original music or music videos that celebrate healthy and inspirational living, or accurately depict the dark side of drug abuse.
