  8. Red says:

Do you think speedballing is important to know about, there have been alot of famous people to die from it, and alot of young adults use it where I am from. I can’t seem to find anything about it anywhere on the internet, I can only find the people that have died from doing it.Can you help me education my college of speedballing??

  9. NIDAwriter says:

@Red: Speedballing refers to combining a stimulant (usually cocaine) with an opioid drug (usually heroin), taken together (usually injected from the same syringe). This combo is supposed to intensify the rush from the combined effects and minimize the expected post-cocaine crash with the effects of the heroin. However, speedballing can easily lead to overdose, usually from too much heroin in the mix, and can end in death, as witnessed by John Belushi, Chris Farley, Mitch Hedberg, and River Phoenix. So, yes, it’s important to know about and to enlighten people of the dangers.

i think that this website needs more feedback

  14. NIDAminds says:

@persona Good question. Anabolic steroid use can result in side effects its users weren’t looking for. You might have heard about ‘roid rage – mood swings towards uncontrolled violence, even for normally mild-mannered people. Anabolic steroid use can also trick the brain into stopping growing – surely not what anyone looking to beef up physically would want to happen. And sometimes, steroids actually confuse your hormones – so boys and men will start showing breasts while women and girls may notice their voices getting deeper and hair growing in unwanted places. Some good overviews on anabolic steroids:
